Mercedes Gaviria is the daughter of Víctor Gaviria, one of Colombian cinema’s rare true masters. When Víctor started production on his most recent film La mujer del animal (2016), he invited Mercedes to be his assistant, to accompany him through the process. She accepted the invitation, on condition that she could film proceedings, on and off set.

In 1977, the military government kidnapped Juan Herman. In 1985, Carlos Echeverría shot ‘Juan As If Nothing Had Happened’, a film that investigated the disappearance. Horacio – Juan’s brother – worked on the film but his testimony wasn’t part of it. 30 years later, I travelled to meet him.

Now he asks himself: "Do I want to get married? Am I attracted to marriage as an institution?
